Welcome to Slottsvillan.
Slottsvillan is an iconic heritage-listed building in Husqvarna, built in 1895-96 as a private residence for Wilhem Tham and his wife and 9 children; the CEO and chairman of Husquarna, one of Sweden’s largest manufacturing companies. He is said to be the person who has had the greatest influence over the region, the company and the way Slottsvillan came to be.
Wilhelm and his wife Elisabeth Tham spent a lot of time in England, and the architecture of the house is inspired by English and Scottish manors and castles. The hotel has been declared a historical building, meaning it must be preserved as is.

The interior is full of character with traditional heritage-style rooms infused with modern accents. Period features such as the tower, the high ceilings and cast iron lamps along with the original creaky floorboard conjure up the buildings past as a family home. There are TVs in all rooms and modern art displayed throughout, but neither spoil the warmth of this 19th century castle-villa. Slottsvillan has 12 elegant but functional bedrooms, a grand dining hall, a conference center, a billiard room, sauna, wine cellar and tasting area, several terraces, and a large salon with plenty of rooms in which to take tea, relax or socialise in.
Who are we?
We are Christian and Michaela, the husband and wife team who own and operate Hotel Slottsvillan as of June 2018. We have international backgrounds having lived in Australia, France, Mexico, and the US. We are both from Sweden and have now returned to create a new home here in Huskvarna.
Michaela’s career has been in wine and spirits where she was part of building the Absolut Vodka brand in Stockholm and LA. She also worked at Jacobs Creek winery in Australia where she oversaw marketing, tourism and e-commerce as well as the restaurant. Michaela has had a love for food and wine for as long as she can remember, and whilst at Jacobs Creek she qualified as a sommelier at Wine and Spirit Education Trust. She is passionate about wine and has since been running tastings for thousands of guests.
Christian has an entrepreneurial background in marketing, having co-founded a start-up incubator in Australia as well as a media solutions company in Sweden. He has worked at leading media agencies Starcom and Carat. His love for this business started from an early age travelling the world with his family and grew even more whilst working at Scandic hotels. He is passionate about creating the best possible experience for his guests, so if you need someone to play billiards with don't hesitate to ask.

Our vision
Our passion is to provide you with a memorable experience in our beautiful and unique space where we hope you will feel at home.

Our belief is that the best things in life are quite often also the simplest; from a crackling fire, a soothing sauna after a long day, a glass of wine and the perfect plate of pasta with a friend or partner, a snug bed you don’t want to get out of and warm home-baked bread in the morning. We have incorporated all these things and more into the experience here at Slottsvillan. You can call it simple sophistication, or sophisticated simplicity. You’ll see when you get here.

We purchased the property in June 2018 and have big aspirations to turn it into one of Sweden’s most loved boutique hotels and a destination not just for renowned service, food and amenities, but for its rich history and unforgettable tailor-made experiences. Who wouldn’t mind waking up to the smell of newly baked bread and a luscious breakfast served in our dining room, a room with a rich history of visitors including prime ministers, leading business people and our guests from around the world.
